The Scientist, Upstream Process and Manufacturing Sciences is responsible for the development and operation of mammalian cell culture processes under cGLP conditions.
Prepares and maintains small research cell banks.
Performs shake-flask/bench-scale bioreactor experiments for medium development, cell line screening, cell culture process development, and bioprocess validation.
Supports Manufacturing SOP, Protocol, and Master Batch Record development.
Performs studies to establish useful lifespan of custom developed medium, feed, and supplements.
Performs ELISA, HPLC and other process monitoring assays.
Assists in cell line development, adaptation, and screening.
Assists with upkeep of laboratories and other daily operational tasks (e.g., supply ordering).
Participates in group/department meetings and presents results/diagnosis as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in biology or related discipline, with at least 5-7 years of hands-on related experience and/or training in cGMP industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Master’s degree preferred.
Must possess strong communication (oral and written), organizational, and interpersonal, skills, with ability to perform independently and in a team environment.
Must be detail oriented with excellent aseptic techniques, knowledge of mammalian cell culture processes and cGMP regulations/conditions, demonstrated ability in documentation, and be able to follow, create, and revise SOPs as required.
