  • Overview

    The Manager Cost Accounting will help manage the overall accounting and processes related to inventory and cost of sales in a manufacturing environment.  This person will support the creation, implementation, and management of the Company’s inventory and cost accounting processes, policies, and documentation as it transitions to commercialization.   This person will assist in the implementation and maintenance of a new ERP system.  Upon commercialization, this position will be responsible for managing the accounting for inventory, cost of sales, supply chain processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP, SOX, and SEC requirements.  This position includes inventory documentation, accounting and analyses, inventory cost validation, P&L analysis and reporting, and forecasting.  This person will work closely with our supply chain, commercial operations team, 3rd party logistics provider, and will interact directly with our external auditors. 

    Responsibilities

    • Develops and maintains all analysis and subledgers to support inventory and COGS accounting.
    • Works collaboratively with the finance team, supply chain, and sales operations to ensure all aspects within inventory are captured completely and accurately.
    • Maintains all monthly and quarterly journal entries and all documentation to support SOX, audit, and SEC requirements.
    • Prepares monthly journal entries and reconciliations for various inventory accruals and prepaid accounts.
    • Develops and issues monthly, quarterly, and YTD reporting in support of COGS analyses which serve as a basis for forecasting.
    • Collaborating with our supply chain team to establish standard costs and provide periodic reporting to compare to actual production costs.
    • Analyzes inventory on hand to quantify the quarterly inventory obsolescence reserve balance.
    • Helps research and write technical accounting memos and business process documentation.
    • Ensures compliance with key controls.
    • Documentation of processes and analyses.
    • Assists in ad hoc projects.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline with at least 7 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
    • Current CPA license/designation required with prior public accounting experience.
    • Prior experience supporting a commercial pharmaceutical/biotech company is strongly preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of cost accounting, GAAP compliance
