  • Overview

    We are seeking an Assistant Controller, Financial Reporting and Business Analysis to be responsible for preparing financial reports and analysis, including review of the Company’s results with annual budget and forecasts, expense analysis, and analyzing trends regarding expenses and cash requirements.  Assists in preparation of annual budget (updates as necessary) and with SEC reporting and preparation of GAAP financial statements, including ensuring SEC reports are in XBRL format and transmitted timely to the SEC.  Directly responsible for ongoing Federal grant reporting.


    • Leads the Company’s FP&A efforts including monthly and quarterly presentations to Senior Mangement and Board of Directors.
    • Assists in the preparation of the Company’s monthly financial statement package for senior management review and discussion, including balance sheet, profit and loss statement, cash flow statement, and other financial analysis as required.
    • Analyzes monthly results and compares with the annual budget, investigating unusual or unexpected results. 
    • Reviews expense spending with department managers as compared to budget and prior year. Obtains explanations for material differences to plan and determines their impact on annual results.
    • Maintains a program for monitoring and controlling Federal research grant activity.
    • Assists in the development of annual budgets as well as business and cash flow forecasts. Updates during the year based on results incurred and expectations for the fiscal year and beyond.
    • Prepares information necessary for analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses
    • Uses qualitative and quantitative data to create financial models to support existing and new strategies.
    • Responsible for monitoring Company insurance coverage, including clinical trials outside the US, preparation of the annual insurance applications, and expense tracking.


    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline with at least 7 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
    • Current CPA license/designation required with prior public accounting experience.
    • Prior experience supporting a commercial pharmaceutical/biotech company is strongly preferred.
    • Ability to establish and meet deadlines, handle multiple, concurrent priorities, and work well under pressure. 
    • Solid analysis, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.  Excellent attention to detail and follow-through skills. 
    • Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
