Overview

We are searching for an experienced technician to maintain cell cultures for use in performing cell-based bioassay analytical methods in a GMP QC laboratory environment.  The candidate must be skilled in cell biology laboratory techniques and possess direct experience with handling cell cultures and performing related tasks using aseptic technique and good documentation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, propagate, and cryopreserve cells, especially human cancer cells from commercial sources.
  • Prepare media and buffer for various cell lines.
  • Maintain laboratory scale cultures of adherent and non-adherent cell lines within acceptable limits of viability / density for use in microplate-based bioassays.
  • Coordinate work to ensure cultures are available as needed to perform testing.
  • Accurately document all work, maintain equipment and the laboratory in a state of inspection readiness.
  • Maintain the inventory of lab supplies and place orders when necessary.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures during execution of all work and adhere to all safety standards and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology or other related area with 1 - 3 years of relevant experience in a GMP laboratory testing environment.
  • Demonstrated success working with good aseptic technique and experience initiating and maintaining laboratory scale mammalian cell cultures.
  • Experience with good GMP documentation practices and maintaining laboratory equipment in a qualified state.
  • Must possess excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and perform job responsibilities with limited supervision to meet the needs of the QC department especially for bioassays.
